Wie klingt eine Stadt? Vom 10. bis zum 31.5. lädt die Ausstellung „Der Klang von Venedig“ dazu ein, die Lagunenstadt aus einer neuen Perspektive zu entdecken – durch ihre Klänge. Hier wird Venedig nicht nur als visuelles, sondern vor allem als akustisches Erlebnis präsentiert. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Conservatorio Castelfranco und der Hochschule Mainz entstehen Werke, die die klangliche Identität der Stadt erforschen – von der Vergangenheit bis in die Gegenwart.
Die Ausstellung lädt dazu ein, Venedig mit neuen Sinnen zu erleben: das Plätschern des Wassers in den Kanälen, das Läuten der Glocken, die sakrale Polyphonie der Renaissance und moderne Pop-Choraggangements . Auch die Stimmen der Bewohner, ihre Geschichten und das Leben abseits des Tourismus werden hörbar gemacht.
Neben der akustischen Reise thematisiert The Sound of Venice den Einfluss von Licht, Raum und Klang auf die Wahrnehmung. Die Werke eröffnen neue Perspektiven und hinterfragen bekannte Bilder der Stadt.

What does a city sound like? From May 10th till 31st, “The Sound of Venice” exhibition invites you to discover the city from a new perspective – through its sounds. Here, Venice is presented not only as a visual, but above all as an acoustic experience. In collaboration with the Conservatorio Castelfranco and the University of Applied Sciences in Mainz, works are being created that explore the city’s sonic identity – from the past to the present.
The exhibition lets you experience Venice with new senses: the rippling of the water in the canals, the ringing of the bells, the sacred polyphony of the Renaissance and modern pop choir arrangements. The voices of the inhabitants, their stories and their lives away from tourism are also made audible.
In addition to the acoustic journey, The Sound of Venice also addresses the influence of light, space and sound on perception. The works open up new perspectives and question familiar images of the city.
